ABSENTEE BALLOT INSTRUCTIONS

  • In Georgia, you can cast an absentee ballot for any election, even if you won’t be absent from the county on Election Day. You can request your absentee ballot online or by mail. When it comes you simply fill out your ballot and return by mail or in a drop box near you!

Request Deadlines 

  • In Person: Received 11 days before Election Day.

  • By Mail: Received 11 days before Election Day.

  • Online: N/A

Note: You can submit your request for an absentee ballot as early as 78 days before the election. The last day to request your absentee ballot is Friday, October 23rd.

 

Ballot Deadlines

  • Absentee ballots must be received by the time polls close on Election Day.

Georgia Absentee Ballot Rules

  • Any registered Georgia voter may apply for an absentee ballot and vote absentee.

Georgia Absentee Ballot Directions

  1. Prepare your absentee ballot application through the Georgia Secretary of State website hereYou will need your date of birth, the county you are registered in, the number of your drivers license or state I.D. If you don’t have a driver’s license or state-issued ID number, you can include a copy of one of the forms of ID listed on the back of the absentee application.

  2. Print out your form, sign and date it using a pen. This step is very important!

  3. Once you have completed your application you should return it as soon as possible.

  4. All Local Election Offices will accept mailed or hand-delivered forms. Your Local Election Office will also let you fax or email the application.

  5. Double-check the deadlines above and be sure to cast your voted ballot on time to be sure it is counted.

  6. Please contact your Local Election Office if you have any further questions about the exact process.

Tracking Your Ballot

Once You Receive Your Ballot:

  1. Once you receive the ballot, carefully read and follow the instructions provided.

  2. Sign where indicated.

  3. Mail your completed ballot back to the address indicated on the return envelope or drop your ballot off at a nearby ballot box.

  4. No matter how you choose to return your ballot, it must be received by your county elections office no later than 7:00pm on Election Day. It is recommended to return your ballot as early as possible to ensure your ballot arrives on time!
